IHOP & The Latter Rain
“Earlier this year the International House of Prayer (IHOP) sponsored a conference in Kansas City entitled Passion for Jesus that was heavily promoted toward young people. The purpose of the conference was to “cultivate intimacy with Jesus.” In the conference’s second session, IHOP president and director Mike Bickle preached a message based on an allegorical interpretation of a Matthew 25 parable in which he explained his end times theology and “revelation of the bridal paradigm.” Bickle claims that Jesus cannot return until something drastically changes in the church: “He is not coming any day. He is not coming until the people of God globally are crying out in intercession with a bridal identity under the anointing of the Spirit.” If you do not understand what he means by that it is likely because you have read the Bible literally and have never found anything regarding a special anointing that imparts a revelation of a “bridal identity.” In fact, much of Bickle’s terminology will be strange and foreign to most Christians.
In this article I will show that Bickle’s movement is based on allegorized scripture, deeper life pietism, and mysticism, representing a slightly modified version of the heretical Latter Rain movement of the 1940s.
More here:
I grew up in the modern day Christianity, where so much sexual perversion is allowed and accepted. I struggled my whole life to see why exactly people are living in this “fantasy realm” of being a Christian. I then realized that a mojority of Christians are actually just religious people, who walk about scrutinizing and pointing fingers. After doing a lot of “soul searching”, I have come to realize that what Mike Bickles preaches and teaches is what the “Christian” church is scared of. We must live our lives totally abandoned to Jesus’ calling, as His bride!! I say, go IHOP and if you do see fallacy, pray against it and pray for the person who is preaching it. But, do not be offended by a Jesus movement that heals the wounded and mends the broken hearted.
The person who wrote this artical is only objective in his beliefs, which sounds twisted in itself…objective,…beliefs.
However, it is very clear in the scriptures that God speaks directly to his disciples,…the ones who listen to him. To be spoken to is not objective, but subjective. Therefore, the writer is saying that Mike Bickle is wrong by not preaching the Bible soley objective.
Well, hallelujah. In this day and age it is refreshing to have a man of God not only preach objectively, but to encourage us to live like the disciples when the Spirit was moving in the New Testiment ~ after Jesus went back to be with the Father. We live by the FATHER, SON, & HS., not by bread alone. This is what Mike Bickle teaches…the word…, the whole word, and not JUST objectively. Thank you Mike from someone who lives about 5 states away=) and believes not only in the trinity, but that the trinity is alive and moving and breathing today!
Tami,
According to the Bible, if a new ‘word from God’ contradicts or adds to His written Word or introduces a new doctrine or teaching not found in the Bible, was it God speaking?
My Name is Kara and I too was hoodwinked by IHOP for over 6 years. I lived and breathed that place, I believed in the foundation of it and was lied to over and over again by the leadership. I saw many people come and go through that time but many that stayed year after year like myself and I would say to myself this must be okay it must be a good thing since so many talented people are here. But I was wrong. So wrong and because I did not seek and search and diligently do my research a veil was over my eyes for years and no one could tell me otherwise. Some of my friends left this place and found the truth of the scriptures but many others stayed but yet I did not get it maybe because deep inside I did not want to know the truth. I wanted to believe I could not be fooled or deceived I knew too much word, I had too much of a great realtionship with Jesus to be hoodwinked. But I was and I finally see this now. What took me seeing it, I really can’t say one thing, maybe it was when they fired someone in my department at IHOP when she was questioning money funds, maybe it was all the people that got sick through fasting so much and then having to be hospitalized and then having David Sliker state “Oh but we don’t force people to fast”. Or maybe it was when I started to work for the city of Jackson and noticed how many homes were owned by Diane and Mike Bickle that had no loans on them and how Mike Bickle has many different addresses and he isn’t living as much as a fasted lifestyle as he preaches. or maybe it was when I went to one session near the Prayer Room that did soaking sessions and the woman was sharing how she use to be part of IHOP and then found the truth behind herself being lied to and hoodwinked and finding the deeper love of the Father through the time she actually was as IHOP. Or maybe it was when I noticed one day how my so called IHOP friends were really only acquaintances and not REAL friends because IHOP really doesn’t have a real community and does not know how to love one another as the bible teaches. I can’t tell you it was one thing or another I can only tell you it was a combination of things and through that combination of things, I have found the road of truth and the path to my glorious Father and have left this cult to seek and live the life Jesus died to give me. I tell anyone in this cult or thinking of it…do your research, the facts are clear and they are all within your reach Father God has allowed it be clear, but you must be willing to seek it in order to find it. Seek and you shall find, don’t be ignorant..and don’t just continue in the lies just because you think it is from the Lord, it is not! Let Him (TRUTH) show you. Just seek!
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the post, it has opened my eyes and now see the truth!
I have been going to ihop for 5 years and had so many questions. Here are why I am leaving ihop after praying and finding truth from scriptures
1. Theology is based on emotions not word of God.
2. Allegorizing scripture and thinking there are deeper meanings only “certain” people can unlock
3. Celebrity status of leaders
4. No accountability for leaders
5. No accountability on finance
6. Christian life becomes a “bubble” rather than going out into the dark world to be the light
7. Looking down on other Christians
8. Anyone and everyone says God spoke to them, and nothing is based from the scriptures
9. Fasting as a means to convince and change God’s plan rather than alining to God’s plan
10. Back to point 1, God is based on my emotions and feelings!
I am not using my real name here because I was close with many leaders in iphop before i left.
Kara, there is no city of Jackson around here. I was born and raised here (KCMO) my whole life, never moved away and there is no city of Jackson.
