After being a cricket chirping in the reeds for years, this is the 1,000th chirp from the Muddy Streams swampland, and quite possibly the last. We could write and read and talk about the muddy streams of spiritual convergence all day, but there are more important things to do. Can you hear the winds of change blowing in the reeds? A storm is coming, it’s time to get ready.

Get Right With God . . .

The Only Hope in The Coming Storm!

“God is playing a role in all religions and that Christians are more united than they sometimes think.” ~ George O. Wood, Assembly of God’s CEO

The question is, united around what? Around which God? The eternal Christ that Christians worship, or the created being whose brother is Lucifer?

(…) Yes, some strange things have been happening with the Assemblies’ top leadership these past few months. Last month at the Assemblies of God “Believe” Conference, leadership brought in New Age Contemplative key player Ruth Haley Barton. Top leadership ignored the warnings and pleas of even ordained AOG ministers, but to no avail.

And now it appears the AOG CEO and his leadership team are joining hands to find common ground with top Mormon leaders at BYU….

How can God bless America?

Mississippi Town Objects to Church’s Giant Cross

It’s a battle of Christians versus Christians in Brandon, Miss. where city officials oppose efforts by a prominent church to erect a giant cross because it violates a zoning ordinance. But the pastor of the church said elected officials are also afraid the cross might offend Muslims.

The First Baptist Church of Brandon petitioned the city to install a 110-foot tall cross on its property alongside Interstate 20. The project is sponsored by “Crosses Across America,” a non-profit group that builds giant crosses along the nation’s highways.

More than a history lesson: Watchdog group documenting Islamic propaganda

A national security watchdog says the purpose of a controversial public school textbook used in Florida is to brainwash students with pro-Islamist propaganda.

Dr. William Saxton, chairman of Florida-based Citizens for National Security, claims there is a “concerted effort” to get into the “hearts and minds of our kids.”

The world history textbook used in Brevard Public Schools (World History, published by Pearson Prentice Hall) has drawn national attention and lots of scrutiny, since there is a 36-page chapter devoted to Islam but no chapters devoted to Judaism or Christianity.

Law group: Religious double standard allowed yoga classes in California school

A legal group says trustees of a California school district showed bias by allowing the teaching of a religious form of yoga to public school students.

The Encinitas Union School District will expand its yoga program after trustees approved a $1.4 million grant.

The yoga program, which is taught to students as part of physical education, has been criticized by parents and religious groups because it teaches students Ashtanga yoga.

“If this were, say, a Christian-based exercise program, it wouldn’t have survived the trial for so long,” says Dean Broyles of the National Center for Law and Policy.

A lawsuit was filed against the school district, but a superior court judge ruled that the program doesn’t impose religion on students.

San Diego Superior Court Judge John S. Meyer did agree, however, that Ashtanga yoga is religious.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Revelation 12:11

In a day when churches and Christians everywhere are compromising the truth and therefore betraying the Lord who shed His blood to atone for our sin, songwriters Keith Getty and Stuart Townend are taking a stand for Christ by refusing to water down the gospel.

‘In Christ Alone’ Pulled From New Presbyterian Hymnal
CBN News

The popular hymn “In Christ Alone” will be left out of the new hymnal of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.

That’s because songwriters Keith Getty and Stuart Townend said they will not change the lyrics.

Some members objected to the line that says “On that cross as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied,” spokesperson and chair of the Presbyterian Committee Mary Louise Bringle wrote in The Christian Century.

Bringle said most of the committee wanted the lyrics changed to: “The love of God was magnified.” They said they didn’t want to suggest in the new hymnal that Jesus’ death on the cross was an atoning sacrifice needed “to assuage God’s anger” over sin.

The hymn writers refused. Getty said they wrote “In Christ Alone” to tell “the whole gospel.”

Question: “Why are there so many religions? Do all religions lead to God?”

Answer: The existence of so many religions and the claim that all religions lead to God without question confuses many who are earnestly seeking the truth about God, with the end result sometimes being that some despair of ever reaching the absolute truth on the subject. Or they end up embracing the universalist claim that all religions lead to God. Of course, skeptics also point to the existence of so many religions as proof that either you cannot know God or that God simply does not exist.
