Most North Americans were still sleeping when the World Day of Interconnectedness began today, starting on the other side of the planet.

On 10 10 10 in every country at 10 AM in every time zone (starting in New Zealand), all people who are aware of interconnectedness and who are committed to translate that awareness into action are invited to practice interconnectedness as much as possible throughout that day.

While this world wide belief of interconnectedness, which is actually based on the worship of nature, may have seemed far fetched for the general population to gravitate to only a few years ago, it’s not a foreign concept anymore. Thanks to environmentalism and movies like Avatar, the modern (neo) paganism in its many expressions is in vogue. This is what it means to be a Neo-Pagan

“Neo-Pagan” means “new pagan” (derived from the Latin paganus , “country-dweller”) and hearkens back to times before the spread of today’s major monotheistic (one god) religions. A good general rule is that most Wiccans are Neo-Pagans but not all Pagans are Wiccans.
Neopagans hold a reverence for the Earth and all its creatures, generally see all life as interconnected, and tend to strive to attune one’s self to the manifestation of this belief as seen in the cycles of nature.
Pagans are usually polytheistic (believing in more than one god), and they usually believe in immanance, or the concept of divinity residing in all things. Many pagans, though polytheistic, see all things as being part of one Great Mystery. The apparent contradiction of being both polytheistic and monotheistic can be resolved by seeing the God/desses as masks worn by the Great Mystery. Other pagans are simply monotheistic or polytheistic, and still others are atheistic.

There is even an America Pagan Church that believes everything is interconnected.

Within Nature Centered Spirituality one accepts that everything is alive, conscious and interconnected. The stones, trees, clouds, land , animals, stars etc. are living conscious beings, at once individuals and part of an infinite whole. That which some call God is usually seen as an all encompassing, inclusive Life Force , Intelligence, Will, Spirit, Force, or Source which is manifest and inseparable from anything else.

This spirituality may seem miles away from Christianity, but little by little, this concept has been gaining ground in the church. Who in Christian circles would believe in the interconnectedness of life and a synthesis of religions? One example is Rick Warren’s friend and associate, Leonard Sweet, who interconnects with all by breathing in the good and bad angels, the dead people in history, and possibly too many car exhaust fumes…

“1. Get in touch with your lungs by closing your eyes. Visualize in your mind a tennis court” 8.“Hold your Bible and breathe meditatively. The breathtaking, nay, breathgiving truth of aliveness is more than Methuselean in its span: Part of your body right now was once actually, literally part of the body of Abraham, Sarah, Noah, Esther, David, Abigail, Moses, Ruth, Matthew, Mary, Like, Martha, John, Priscilla, Paul… and Jesus. 9. Keep breathing quietly while holding your Bible. You have within you not just the powers of goodness resident in the great spiritual leaders like Moses, Jesus, Muhammed, Lao Tzu You also have within you the forces of evil and destruction.” Resident in each breath you take is the body of angels like Joan of Arc and devils like Gilles de Rais, Genghis Khan, Judas Iscariot, Herod, Hitler, Stalin and all the other destructive spirits throughout history” (Leonard Sweet, Quantum Spirituality, p.300-301)

Leonard Sweet Quotes

Oddly, Sweet’s terminology does not differ very much from that used by Neo-Pagans and new agers. Such as the well known new age philospher and author Ken Wilber, who talks a lot about the interconnectedness of everything (and who is highly recommended by emerging church leader Rob Bell).

Here’s one more connection – not only is today a big day for the interconnected Neo-Pagans, 10-10-10 also appears to be a big day for Rick Warren and the Doctor of Destiny, and their new book release. See here about this bizarre connection:

It’s beginning to look like a giant dot to dot end time picture as all these people are playing a part in an interconnectedness that has nothing to do with unity in Jesus, and everything to do with the false spirituality of the father of lies who waits for all the deceived to join him on the other side of the interfaith Neo-Pagan bridge of interconnectedness.

“…evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.” 2 Timothy 3:13

“Thus says the LORD, ‘Do not learn the way of the nations, And do not be terrified by the signs of the heavens although the nations are terrified by them.'”
Jeremiah 10.2

The Internet is abuzz about it, and movies are being made on it. It’s not a place or a person that is garnering so much attention, but the year 2012. That year, according to Mayan prophecy, marks the end of a long cycle to time, specifically, the end of a 5,126-year (some say 5,128-year) cycle on the Mayan’s Long Count calendar, a year which also occurs during a particular alignment in the skies.

December 21, 2012 coincides with the winter solstice, and at that time, there will be an alignment of both the sun and the earth with the center of the Milky Way galaxy. This heightens the excitement and speculation, causing many to wonder: What will happen? Will it be the end of the earth as we know it? Will it be the ushering in of a “new consciousness?” Will friendly aliens land or hostile aliens invade? Or is it just another year with no special significance?

Part 1: Self-God

The enticement to be like god is a timeless seduction. Perhaps the most recognizable self-proclaimed deity this century is the affable 14th Dalai Lama. Master of the most revered Tibetan monks, he is at home with his own divinity, for which he credits a strong will and karmic force. Looking to him and other ostensibly highly-evolved ascended masters, growing numbers of mystics view themselves as embryo gods-in-the-making.

This new spirituality is no more than rehash of a very old lie. Described in the Bible as a beautiful, anointed cherub, Lucifer exalted himself above all others. He purposed to usurp humans as crown of God’s creation; even more, he wanted to become as god. With that very ambition, Lucifer seduced Eve to partake of the forbidden fruit of knowledge, reserved for God alone.
