The message was loud and clear, but did those listening have ears to hear?

So. Baptist Pastors Told to Preach Christ, Not Themselves

Southern Baptist pastors were given a simple yet poignant message Sunday to preach Christ and not themselves.

Citing what were likely familiar words from the late A.T. Robertson, Bob Pitman reminded them that preaching of one’s self was “surely as poor and disgusting a topic as a preacher can find.”

Dean of the Adrian Rogers Center for Biblical Preaching at the Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tenn., Pitman directed his message to hundreds of pastors gathered in Phoenix, Ariz., for a two-day conference, held just ahead of the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting.

He pointed out that many Southern Baptists try to make church about themselves, though they might not admit it.

The Coming Persecution

The Coming Persecution
by Joe Schimmel

The coming persecution has already begun to one degree or another. Street preachers in South Carolina have been handcuffed and hauled off to jail due to “noise pollution.” Christians in the Middle East are put to death in the name of Allah. Even a friend of mine, Wally Tope, was beaten into a coma by looters as he shared the gospel in Los Angeles during the riots. True, persecution has been the lot of the church since it’s inception and books like “Foxe’s Book of Martyrs” have testified of this fact down through the corridors of time.

The scriptures testify that persecution would increase in the last days due to the increasing lawlessness of mankind (2 Timothy 3:1-13). This coming persecution will be so intense that a worldwide mandate will go out in the name of the Antichrist to the effect that all who do not conform to the coming New World Order “must die.”

I read the Koran every day, says former prime minister Tony Blair who claims it keeps him ‘faith-literate’

He was notoriously reluctant to discuss religion while Prime Minister, with his chief spin doctor Alastair Campbell famously commenting: ‘We don’t do God.’

But since leaving Downing Street in 2007, Tony Blair has become increasingly open about the importance of religion.

Mr Blair, who converted to Catholicism months after leaving Number 10, has now spoken of how he reads the Koran every day.

The Goosey Loosey Green Fun Fair, other wise known as the Wild Goose Festival, is shaping up to be quite a muddy mixture of spiritual swamp water, as previously mentioned. Some recommended new reading can be found over at Apprising Ministries, where further research reveals more evidence of the spiritually toxic quicksand that this festival is based upon (see THE EMERGING CHURCH ON A WILD GOOSE CHASE).

The ‘Wild Goose’ is said to be a Celtic metaphor for the holy spirit, although not to be confused with THE Holy Spirit, who in the Bible is represented by the dove. This ‘goose spirit’ is characteristically wild and unpredictable, flighty and feminine, not to mention a bit loosey goosey and accepting of all unholiness and ungodliness as long as it’s ‘spiritual.’ This is why it’s not a surprise that this festival is open to all regardless of belief, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, denomination or religious affiliation (wildgoosefestival.org). The emergent line up of speakers reveals what kind of Mother Goose spirituality this is all about, but now let us look briefly at who else might be following this wild goose chase…

*Steve Brown, who also promotes everything spiritually toxic these days. See here:

Besides these and some very liberal church denominations, also chasing the wild goose are the Aboriginal Peacemakers, the Preaching Peace pacifists, the Young Anabaptist Radicals, the Center for Spiritual Resources (an initiative of the Cathedral of All Souls & the Diocese of Western North Carolina), and Transform, a trans-denominational missional community formation network in the Northwest.

There is no doubt that those chasing this goose will be led across the wide bridge of inclusive spirituality that leads not to the the Truth. All those who promote and chase after this loose goose must be avoided by those few who wish to enter by the narrow gate that leads to life. We have been forewarned by Jesus Christ Himself…

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
