Enchant Somebody Today
How do you change people’s minds, win people’s hearts, and lead people’s actions?
You enchant them.
Enchantment is the latest book by former Apple ‘evangelist’ Guy Kawasaki that is more than worth the read.
Its a kind of relational primer from a supremely skilled practitioner. But its not so much about relational techniques, although it contains a whole lot of concrete help.
Its a recognition that human beings are not simply information processing machines, we are souls.
We are souls who have been deadened by something, and require being awakened.
And when somebody wakes up–even for a moment–that’s enchantment.
Enchanters don’t sell products, services, churches, or messages.
They deal in dreams. Because every human being has a dream.
Enchanters don’t think in terms of communication or information or presentation.
They think of story. They think of screen play.
Because every body wants to be part of a story.
Enchanters don’t think so much of getting any particular job done,
they think of inhabiting a different world.
You could enchant somebody today.

John Ortberg, who is passionate about “spiritual formation” because that’s how people become more like Jesus, has also recently partnered with Monvee, “an online spiritual assessment tool that helps individuals and churches create hand crafted spiritual growth plans.”
Here a Forbes video introduces ‘Enchantment’ as “the art of changing hearts and minds and actions, basically how people can kick butt without burning bridges”…
Guy Kawasaki: The Pillars Of Enchantment
NOTE: Guy Kawaski’s advice is all to do with business, which is the way the church has gone in this era of consumerism. Even though the church of Christ is not a business, Rick Warren (who has perverted the Gospel with instruction to not preach repentance or eschatology) has endorsed the back of another book by Guy Kawasaki called The Art Of The Start.
